This raw Urushi is also suitable for making noriurushi (糊漆, lacquer and rice flour) to be used as an adhesive to attach cloth and paper to Urushi crafts, as well as kokuso paste (コクソ, used to fill in damaged lacquer finishings).
It is also used for sojigatame (素地固め, a technique used before reattaching broken pieces in kintsugi).

This kind of Urushi is also known as shitaji-joukiurushi, joukiurushi, and jouseshime (下地上生漆・上生漆・上瀬〆) among others.
