Sanwa Suruga grindstone Available in 1/10 Size /三和するが砥石 1/10サイズ #600#800
A new 1/10 size has been added to the Sanwa Suruga Whetstone lineup.
This polishing series for urushi work was jointly developed by our company and Sanwa Kenma Kogyo, headquartered in Uji, Kyoto. Among the series, the long-selling and most in-demand products are the Sanwa Suruga Whetstone #600 and #800.
Previously available in three sizes —
-
Standard size (17 × 23 × 100 mm), similar in size to a CalorieMate bar
-
Large size (35 × 55 × 130 mm)
-
1/4 size (35 × 55 × 30 mm)
— this product now welcomes a long-awaited ultra-compact cut size.
In most cases, whetstones are not used in their original full size. They are usually cut down to match the size and shape of the object being worked on. While crystal stones are soft and difficult to cut into smaller pieces, the Sanwa Suruga Whetstone can be cut without losing its shape.
However, cutting them is quite a task. Without tools such as a grinder, it can be difficult. We have long received requests for a smaller size, and in response, we are pleased to introduce this perfectly sized version, cut to 1/10 of the standard size.
It is small enough to be held between your thumb and index finger, similar to charcoal polishing stones. Extremely convenient — we highly recommend giving it a try.
