Asakichi Grindstone/淺吉砥石
Our original grindstone, 'Asakichi Toishi' (Size: 1mm×4mm×100mm)
Asakichi Grindstone, our popular stick-shaped grindstone, is perfect for delicate, detailed polishing.
Take Kintsugi, for example. Traditional sandpaper, shaped charcoal and synthetic grindstones often crumble and scratch the glaze, but not the Asakichi Grindstone.
It does the job without accidentally scratching the glaze or leaving any black slurry that could stain the cracks, making it perfect for Kintsugi and similar applications!
It’s super versatile, suitable for various polishing tasks such as maki-e, lacquer carving, sanding the base of corners, and intermediate coatings, smoothing out shrunken lacquer that’s pooled in corners, and polishing mother-of-pearl inlays.
Despite its price of 1,650 yen (tax included), it's a worthwhile investment given its longevity and effectiveness.
The Asakichi Grindstone is the real deal, a perfect alternative to those charcoal sticks, and you won’t regret giving it a try!
