(光琳) 研出上黒呂色【日本産】(Kourin, Togidasi Jou KuroRoiro) in Japan
Well suited Sugurome whose base is black roiro (roiro 呂色) with no oil. Easily applied with a brush for Nuritate (塗立て, an advanced technique which has the aim of creating a soft glossiness without any polishing through the use of oily Urushi).
Kourin Urushi is distinct in that the particulate matter within has been made finer through its more rigorous purification and refining process.
Coats of this Urushi are dense and can achieve a glossy finish with fewer coats. Its durability is one of its special qualities: it is exceedingly weather resistant and will retain much of its gloss over time.
It is also used for the restoration of Japanese National Treasures.
Even freshly applied and unpolished, it is 80-90% glossy.
