Hake ya Kitsune - Hontoshi Urushi Brush/狐印 新並本通漆刷毛
We are honored to present a set of brushes designed and made by Shiho Utsumi, the founder of the label `The Brush and the Fox` (刷毛や狐, `Hake ya Kitsune`), and the only craftsperson to inherit the techniques of lacquer brush master Nobuyuki Tanaka.
The specifications of this brush series makes it the most versatile and cost-effective set that can be used widely from hobbyists to professionals. The bond between wood and hair (人毛) has been changed to lacquer similar to that used in topcoat brushes, and the strength is greater than conventional products.
It can be used for a great range of purposes, such as for lacquer classes and student teaching materials, for lacquer and gold foil work, for groundwork and on-site work.
This brush arrives uncut, and will need to be trimmed by hand before use. It therefore is not recommended for beginners in urushi painting, but for more advanced and experienced craftsmen.
