This whetstone is for cleaning the surface, used for the final whetting of shitaji(base- foundation) and the bottom whetting of the middle urushi coat.
Carefully whet the object dipping the whetstone in water. Wipe the mud cleanly that comes out when sharpening. 600# and 800# are available.
